Summary
The dust is still settling on the ruins of Guanyin Temple as the survivors have to pick up the threads of their lives. For some the next steps seem simple. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji can be together in peace, it seems. Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui are off to see their ancestral home. But Lan Xichen must survive the betrayal of the great love of his life. Jiang Cheng has to come to terms with the opposite - the realization that his brother never betrayed him at all, and the fact that they are still not truly reconciled. Jin Ling won't let him easily forget Wei Ying, or put him out of his mind completely, even if that's what he wanted. Wen Ning and Lan Sizhui may also find that the Wen clan does not rest easy after the end of the Sunshot Campaign, and that Wen Qing's spirit might not be fully at rest. Even Wei Ying and Lan Zhan have compromises to make, and lessons to learn, if they want to be together.

Summary
Lan Wangji loves his boyfriend, loves the life they have built, loves the family that surrounds them. It is good--until an attack on Wei Wuxian teaches them both that "good" is a thing you have to fight for sometimes, one conversation and negotiation and realization at a time. Healing is a slow process; for Lan Wangji, it is one that he will pour everything into if it helps the man he loves. For Wei Wuxian, it is one that may be too exhausting to even begin.
