Summary
“I’ll see you at the airport on Sunday then,” Max said right before hanging up.
He did feel bad for a second, as he heard Charles saying something, but the feeling did not last. They have not seen each other since Tuesday morning, right before Max left Milan. Charles was supposed to stay in Italy until Wednesday, for team meetings and simulator sessions. That was the plan! Then every time they talked on the phone, Charles would tell Max he could not go home yet because John Elkann invited him and some team members for dinner or because he had to visit a karting track.
Problem is: Charles cannot say no.

Summary
Through the multitude of water droplets crashing against all surfaces, he hears, "Max, what are you doing here?! Where the fuck is your umbrella?"
Suddenly the downpour stops flowing over his head. Charles is standing very close by, covering them with his silly pink umbrella.
Max is silent. He looks into Charles' eyes and sees what seemed like fury turn to concern.
"Max?" he calls out to him again.
Why? Why is his umbrella pink? flashes through Max's mind.
