The color blue had always been a constant in Miles’s life.
Back on West Side Island the sky that he didn’t think he would get to see some days was blue, the ocean that his home was surrounded by was blue, many of the berries he ate to survive were blue— the list went on. But blue in those things always served as a reminder that the world went on without him in spite of his suffering. Every nightfall, the blues would darken, and every sunrise, they would come back just as mockingly blue as they were before.
Miles didn’t like the color blue very much.
Until he came along, that is.
