Summary
'What more do you want?' The human prays, 'What else can I do?' He sounds pissed, he sounds desperate, and Lucifer longs to step forward and assure Alastor that he has the devil’s attention, and has for a very long time.
Thirty minutes pass of Alastor kneeling in coagulating blood, the rustle of Spanish moss and creatures passing by the only song of the night, an orchestra of nature pacing restlessly around the lone man. Eventually, he stands, defeated, cleaning his mess efficiently, yes, go home, soldier, rest your eyes.
Lucifer leaves long after Alastor does, a new idea forming in his head.

“Dear, language.” The man admonished like Lucifer was a child, looking up at him over his glasses with a grin that would be considered down-right predatory if it weren’t for the fact that he was still giggling. “You do know He could be watching, don’t you?”
Lucifer huffed, picking himself up with only half a struggle, his heel skidding on a stray piece of ice before it found its purchase. He straightened, fixing his coat.
“Right.” He replied absently, feeling the imprint of the crucifix burning through the thick doors on his back like a cattle brand. “Ri- What? Who- who are you?”
The man hummed, his eyes crinkling with it, head canting one way — but he did not respond.
