Wei Wuxian's back from the dead and Jiang Cheng's not impressed. Neither was their once sister Jiang Yanli but she's a lot more understanding than him. In fact, everyone is more understanding than Jiang Cheng. This, at least, he understands. What he doesn't get is why now and why him? Why not Lan Wangji?
Whatever Wei Wuxian is looking for, he doesn't know. Doesn't care, in all honesty. He just wants to be left alone, to go quietly about his life and quickly fade into irrelevance.

Summary
Jiang Cheng will curse Wei Wuxian with baldness if he doesn’t move back to Lotus Pier after everything is said and done. Wei Wuxian, scared and bewildered at this oddly specific threat, finally gets to go home. Lan Wangji then promises to come visit often. So often, in fact, he kind of just drifts into terminal orbit around Yunmeng.
A.K.A. Wei Wuxian’s mischief and stubbornness is partly his need to exert some kind of control over his own life. Lan Wangji knows Wei Wuxian trusts him but how far does it go? He courts Wei Wuxian in the rainy season when nature spirits bless them with every step, during moonlit boat rides and fragrant night hunts where nocturnal critters serenade them.

Wei Wuxian dies during the First Siege. 13 years later he's forced back into the land of the living, into flesh and bone, but...different than the one he knew. Here he meets their versions of Cultivators. He meets their version of Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji.
Now Wei Wuxian has two major problems (on top of the hundred other little ones):
1.) What attacked and contributed to Mo Xuanyu's death?
2.) What happened to this world's Wei Wuxian?
