    He wants to push up into Grian’s weight, wants to grind himself into the soft bed underneath him. Wants hands in his hair and kisses pressed to his neck. He’s got his eyes screwed shut, but when Grian’s fingers hit a spot on the underside of his wings, just above where they connect to the line of his spine, he has to clench his jaw and bare his teeth to keep from doing something stupid like begging for more.

    Which is why it’s such a surprise, when—

    “You’re getting off on this, aren’t you?”

    Scar is going to die.

    That is the thought that has been playing on Grian’s mind since he got down to red. After all, he is notoriously careless and unobservant. As socially savvy as he is, he’s also the type of person who would wander straight into a ravine because he wasn’t paying attention. Which was exactly what he had done a few days ago.

    From the beginning of the series, Grian had done everything in his power to keep a distance between himself and Scar. It’s for the greater good, he told himself. Inevitably, they would either get killed by outside forces or have to kill each other.

    Or

    Grian wants to keep Scar from dying again, and him being shirtless yet again is giving him an idea for how to accomplish that.
