Summary
Crowley expected the other vehicle to roar past them once it got the opportunity. Instead, it swerved into the oncoming lane and pulled up alongside them. He glanced over and found the faces of several young, exceedingly drunk-looking men leering back at him.
“Ge’offa the road, grampa!” the one leaning out of the front passenger window shouted.
Behind him, Adam made a low mewling sound, reminding him that it would probably be a bad idea to turn their engine into hellspawn out of spite. Crowley gave them a two fingered salute instead and bid them good riddance as they revved the engine and began to pull ahead of him.
That’s when the road rounded a bend, and Crowley spotted the oncoming car.

Summary
Aziraphale stared down at the assembled collection of white, tan, and silver before him and tried to feel anything other than nervous. When he spoke, his voice was deep and authoritative.
“All right, this is how this is going to go: We are all going to work together on this. You will do as I command. If you listen and obey, rest assured that I will help you through this. In the end, you will become more than yourselves. You will become something extraordinary.” He held up a clenched fist, brandishing a whisk like a sword. “Do you understand?”
The assortment of flour, sugar, eggs, and other baking ingredients lined up on the counter gave no indication that they heard him or cared about what he wanted.
Aziraphale looked over at Crowley. “Does this normally work for you?”

Summary
"Since you’ve been thwarting Crowley’s evil wiles for years now, we thought you may have some information on his current whereabouts.”
Crowley froze with one hand still outstretched towards the door, his breath hitching in his throat. Adam, tucked against his side, went still and quiet as the arm that encircled him tightened instinctively.
That voice. He knew that voice. Greasy as an oil slick, it oozed across his skin, raising the delicate hairs on his arms and the back of his neck. He shuddered.
Gabriel.

Summary
Aziraphale wasn’t sure what he’d been expecting to find when he stepped into the nursery, honestly. There were several viable scenarios that he could imagine but none of them included stepping into the room to find Adam asleep in his crib with a large, black snake curled around him in a protective knot.

Summary
Crowley’s heart had once been made of starlight. As a demon, no light remained in his chest. His heart had been extinguished, turned into a cool, dark lump of iron—it sat dormant within the prison of his ribcage for a long time.
Then Aziraphale had happened.

Summary
Crowley would have liked to think that he handled the beginning of Armageddon with a poise and dignity befitting the Serpent of Eden. Unfortunately for Crowley—and, in many ways, for Aziraphale—that wasn’t what happened.
The truth was: He had panicked.
“You what?” Aziraphale hissed, horrified eyes fixed on the wicker basket that hung limply from the demon’s hand.
Crowley swallowed around the lump of dread that had lodged itself in his throat and repeated, “I may have stolen the Antichrist.”

Summary
“What’re you looking at, angel?” Crowley asked. The sunlight made it hard to see his face, but Aziraphale thought he sounded amused.
He smiled and, heart stuttering, answered, “You.”
Crowley froze momentarily. Aziraphale watched as his entire frame went rigid, his edges rippling like a mirage in the desert, before he relaxed again. He scoffed and grumbled something incomprehensible, then turned away.
That’s when Aziraphale noticed the mark.

Summary
Crowley wasn’t sure how long he stood there before Aziraphale’s gentle voice broke through his reverie. He sounded hesitant as he said, “You seemed rather upset.”
They stared at one another. Crowley could feel his heart pounding in his throat and he swallowed compulsively. “Yeah. I was a little upset.” He tilted his head and lifted one shoulder in a shrug. “I’d lost my best friend.”
Aziraphale gave him a wobbly smile and said in a hushed voice, “You didn’t lose me, dear.”

Summary
“Oh dear, this form is asking for a last name,” Aziraphale said suddenly and Crowley looked up from the calatheas he had been terrorizing.
He thought he had seen a leaf spot and had been working himself up into a proper snit when Aziraphale had spoken. The angel was frowning down at the paperwork through his reading glasses, a soft crease between his eyebrows. Beside him, Adam was messily gumming on Cheerios in his high-chair.
“Just use Fell like you normally do,” he grumped. He was crouched over the calatheas, thumb gently tracing along the edge of one striped leaf as he looked for imperfections. The plant was trembling.
“A last name for Adam.”
