They stood in a tense silence, both clearly having a lot to say but unsure how to speak it. This in itself worried Colin. They were a wonderful couple, a team, soulmates, he dare say - assuming as a scientist he believed in such a thing. They’d always been able to communicate freely, it was something he believed came from years of being colleagues and friends before they finally realized their love for one another and consummated it (on a terrifying dinosaur-filled island, no less - this still made him shake his head in disbelief when he thought about it too hard).
Finally, she spoke first, surprising him with her answer. “Okay. One meeting. Just one meeting couldn’t hurt. We’re not committing to anything.”
“Right,” he agreed. “One meeting.”
