Summary
The Man in the Moon had lived a long time with his duty to the children of the Earth while keeping his distance from the Earth. Then one of his Moonbeams starts to individualize, and MiM is left with a choice that will direct both of their lives in ways unintended by the Earth's Guardian Spirit, ways that leave him guessing and facing old emotions he never truly faced.
AKA, a one-shot rewrite of the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter from Japanese folklore given a Rise of the Guardians treatment--written from MiM's perspective and one in which MiM attempts to be helpful to those under his watch and immediately regrets his life's choices up to that point.
