In the video game OneShot, Niko is tasked with carrying a lightbulb to the summit of a tower. There, they have to return it to the mantle of which it resides.
However... what if someone else accompanied Niko? More importantly, what if that "Someone Else" was given ulterior motives by the entity? What if the entity decided to make this journey harder on the both of them?

Summary
Magpie was my favorite OneShot character. I did want to ask, though, how did he lose his eye?
After seeing a drawing by Loppy-Dariioxis covering this idea, I decided to try and come up with my own interpretation.

Summary
We are never told what happens to Niko if we return the sun at the end of OneShot. Did they die on the spot? Did they go on to live a happy life? Was it good or bad? All of it is unclear.
This is what I think happened.
Niko is now stranded in the strange world, forced to figure out a strange new life for themselves. Luckily, they made a lot of friends during their pilgrimage, so what is the worst that could happen?

Summary
As a very exasperated ex-musician-turned-starving-artist, you often faced difficulties trying to make ends meet. Fleeing the monotonous drone of the suburbs into a quaint, idyllic little town nestled deep in the countryside, one thing leads to another before snowballing into something else entirely, and you soon fall seamlessly into the role as caretaker of your neighbor’s child, Niko.
Happiness comes in small packages, you learn with time, as Niko and their sunny radiance just may have been the inspiration you needed to not only mend your artistic slump, but fill your life with that much-needed bliss.
