Ava lightly placed her hand on top of Beatrice’s to get her to look at her again.
Oh god, and now she is touching me.
There was no one else in the library and Ava knew without a doubt the thought came from Beatrice. The last thing she wanted was to make her uncomfortable so she pulled her hand away at lightning speed as if she had been burned.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to-”
Beatrice waved her hand dismissively interrupting her rambling apology. “Don’t worry about it. It is fine.”
“Still I shouldn’t have assumed.” Ava drummed her fingers on the wooden table in front of them trying to break the awkward tension she was responsible for building. “No touching though got it. I guess I should already know that, I mean you are a nun after all.” She joked trying to lighten the mood.
