Summary
El might set him on fire. “Where is his letter, Mike?” There’s something in her tone that Will can’t quite place. A lilt to her words, a sharp edge to her vowels. A threat hidden behind the sentence, like she knows something more.
Mike shrugs again, returning El’s glare. He stands from the table and throws his backpack on. “I didn’t write him one,” he sighs, annoyed. He finally does look at Will then, but his eyes are devoid of all the emotion Will saw earlier. He’s no longer angry, or flustered, or worried. He’s nothing at all. “Sorry.”
It's the party's first Valentine's day after defeating Vecna, and they're determined to celebrate it right. It's all going great, really, they're laughing and poking fun and having a great time. Until Mike decides to give everybody but Will a letter about how much he values their friendship. Does he not care about him at all?

Summary
Mike is seeing things. He’s having nightmares. Does he tell anyone? No, because he doesn’t know this is happening. His mind gets wiped after every strange occurrence, so he’s not worried about it. The only thing he’s worried about is Will, who he thinks doesn’t want to be his friend anymore.
He’s right, of course, Will doesn’t want to be his friend, he wants to be more, but Mike doesn’t need to know that. So, Will is trying to put distance between them as Mike insists on closing the gap, until he realizes there's something happening to Mike. Something that he intends on getting to the bottom of.
