    Summary

MICHAEL JACKSON never searched for love; at 24, he found intimacy in his craft. The one thing that satisfied him when nothing else could. But what his craft demanded sated him sometimes, and an outlet became necessary when the fine line between art and work blurred. So his disguised trips to Phonograph became a much-needed release that he kept to himself and clutched tightly.

The woman who stood behind the counter most days of the week had his attention instantly. His eyes lingered prudently from beneath the Ray-Bans with silent admiration. But there was no more room for shy regard when she finally approached, completely unsuspecting until he said all the wrong things. She wasn't only breathtaking—she was casual about his presence, almost unimpressed by his status. She let him exist in this rare state of peace. That only made her all the more remarkable; he had to take his chance.
