Summary
Nico has never been away from Will before. He has gone away with Will before but he has never not been just next door, at lead not since he was abandoned by his dad at the ripe age of ten. So when Will leaves for the first time, Nico falls apart. He stops sleeping. Stops eating. Just drinks water and cries. staring into the space where Will used to be. Holding onto his phone like it’s carrying Will’s heartbeat. Meanwhile, Will is across the country trying not to cry in public because he’s not homesick, he’s Nico-sick. Will misses his human barnacle, Even when his new friends say stuff like
“Isn’t that a little much?”
“Sounds clingy.”
Will still thinks it’s adorable. And he can’t help but say
“I miss him”
like it’s not up for debate.They call. They text. They try. But nothing fills the space between next door and across the country. Finally a chance to see each other again. Them holding onto each other, like they are glued together for the next 48 hours. Only to be ripped apart again, but not before Percy has a brilliant plan, that Will is putting into action: A chance to be together again.

He doesn’t want his bitterness to affect the time he has with his father. He wants to be grateful, to revel in what others have failed to receive. He wants to worship.
But when he appears from the darkness in front of Hades and sees his drawn, tired face, he does not feel as though he is in the presence of holiness. He is not staring into the deep set eyes of a god who has blessed him; just his father, who has failed him.
nico has a strange but comforting dream about his father. he doesn’t understand why it makes him so angry.

Summary
Nico knew that something was wrong with Will. First of all, Will was late for breakfast. Will had never been late to breakfast before, as a matter of fact, he’d never been late for anything. Kayla and Austin had said that he had been checking their cabin, but Nico didn’t believe that. Second of all, Will was wearing a sweatshirt in the middle of summer, and even by Nico’s standards, it was pretty hot outside. Third of all, Will sat at the end of the table. He usually liked to sit in the middle and talk to his half-siblings and get to know them better. Instead, he was avoiding them, and staring into the woods, as if he expected some monster to appear.
