Yanqing’s life could quite simply be divided into before Jing Yuan and after Jing Yuan. In the former, he’d likely done little but kill, steal, and do whatever was necessary to survive. In the latter, his entire existence had come to focus entirely on his general - and this was no accident, to be sure. Yanqing was growing up entirely according to his expectations, and it was a satisfying thing, to see this living weapon maturing, being honed and shaped by his own hands, exactly as he wished.
