William's body feels unusually heavy, nestled as he is under a reassuring weight. He flexes his fingers, finding them curled around soft fabric. The warmth cocooning him takes on new meaning — it’s early November, and the mornings are often quite chilly. That’s another reason he doesn’t tend to stay in bed too long, preferring to heat his cold fingers with a steaming cup of coffee and curl up on his seat before the fireplace.
When he dares to lift his eyelids, he’s not as surprised as he might have expected to find his cheek pillowed on Sherlock’s forearm, with his hand clinging to an end of Sherlock’s loose nightshirt collar.
