Summary
Once a year, there was a special day wherein people of all ages would confess to the person they were interested in, typically via some kind of trinket that supposedly symbolized the depth of their affection.
It’s a vain, stupid tradition wherein the participant had more to lose than to gain. Jiang Cheng had never joined before, and he would be wise to not start soon.
Especially because of the person he had dedicated his heart to.

Summary
Sister Lily told you about it once - the tragedy of Icarus - who was too smart and too arrogant for his own good and paid dearly for it. He was someone who was considered brilliant for his times. People did not appreciate this, and thus he was punished, but he used his intelligence to escape using waxed wings he’d built with his uncle. However, instead of running to safety, he chose instead to fly towards the sun. The wax that held his wings together couldn’t handle the heat, and thus, was melted, destroying his wings and sending Icarus to his doom. The others couldn’t fathom as to why Icarus did such a foolish thing. He must’ve known he would die from it.
You knew why.
(You had always known.)

It sounded suggestive, and the way Mo Xuanyu was eyeing Nie Huaisang’s lips weren’t helping, either. He knew he could do something, anything, and this in-between could turn into something more, something beautiful even.
Except it couldn’t, because beautiful things weren’t created out of lies and crafted from the blood he would soon shed. If Nie Huaisang wasn’t a killer before, he would be soon.
Mo Xuanyu didn’t deserve to kiss killers. At least Nie Huaisang knew that much.
