    It was a week into the spring semester and Peter could not for the life of him think of a reason he was being called in to meet with his department head. So far he’d had nothing but positive feedback from his professors and his research advisor had been very complimentary when he’d submitted his finished project. There hadn’t been enough time this semester for something to go wrong, but if his life had taught him anything, he should always be prepared for the worst.

    Post-NWH fix-it. Peter is a freshmen at MIT and unintentionally catches the attention of his former mentor.

    Tony has no idea who this kid is but something about him seems familiar and he’s going to figure out why, whatever it takes.

    A year after the Winter Soldier failed his mission in DC, Bucky Barnes is doing his best to stay under the radar from both Hydra and Steve Rogers. His hope for a peaceful day-to-day life in limbo goes awry, however, when he meets Queens’ newest hero; a pure-hearted kid with a death wish and a ridiculous pair of red and blue pajamas.

    The last thing Steve expects when he finally tracks Bucky down is that, not only has the man been living in Queens all this time, right under his nose, but also that, in the two years since they last saw each other, Bucky somehow acquired a kid.

    Alternatively: How Peter Parker effectively fucks over Bucky Barnes, and also totally saves him.

    With May gone, Peter is an orphan and sent to foster care. He doesn’t stay long, the abuse he receives there becoming too much.

    Despite being homeless, he still puts on the suit, Spider-Man getting him through when being Peter Parker couldn’t. It’s a chance encounter that brings Tony and Peter together.

    Doing the right thing seems easy, but in reality, it’s far from it. Tony is going to make mistakes and so is Peter, but maybe, in the end, they’ll be alright.

    Tony finds Spider-Man on the roof of his favorite coffee shop.

    A few days after Siberia, it hurts to move—to reply to Spider-Man, even, when he tries to talk—but Tony, while irritated, assumes it’s a one-off incident.

    It’s not.

    Tony keeps leaving the too-quiet Tower for his caffeine fix, Spider-Man keeps popping up against the shop’s heater vent, and as weeks turn into months, Tony finds himself with a new friend. And if Spider-Man is a little dodgy here and there, well, Tony figures everyone’s entitled to their secrets.

    Or, Tony doesn’t recruit Spider-Man for the Avengers’ Civil War. Maybe if he had, he would’ve caught that something was up with the guy before things went to shit.
