When the screen of his phone lights up again, the first thing he notices is not the message itself but the date on his lock screen: the 4th of February 2044.
Right. Yesterday was his birthday. Satoru forgot.
In the beginning, he tried calling him. He never answered, of course. The years after that, Satoru sent him a message for his birthday. This is the first year he didn't think about him at all. Maybe that will piss him off enough to call me and nag me for it, he fools himself.
'...no matter when...'
Well, fuck that. Satoru said those words almost seven years ago and now he wants to choke on them.

This is the final act of my reincarnation AU, so here a quick guide for anyone stumbling onto this:
Part 1 of this series: After the events of chapter 236, Satoru Gojou and Suguru Getou are reborn into the world of sorcery once more. Under the shadow of their past lives, they meet again and fall in love. But then a mission goes tragically wrong.
Part 2: Satoru regains the memories of his past life after coming close to death. While he struggles to deal with the aftershock, Suguru is left to his own thoughts.

A few months ago, we asked our respective audiences to give us fun prompts for SatoSugu one-shots. The general idea for this writing exercise is that we, Cval and Maschinenwolf, pick the same prompt and each of us writes their own take on it. Now, we are happy to share the first iteration of this short story collection with you!
The prompt we chose for these two stories was given by the guest reader saladdays, who requested a story about "Gojo as a super picky eater with his sugar addiction before he gets RCT and his crappy diet catching up with him but too stubborn to fix it himself so Geto has to help him out!"

Summary
This is part 2 of my series 'Janus' in which Satoru and Suguru are reborn after the events of chapter 236.
In part 1 'Drosera anglica', they found each other again and quickly rekindled their friendship and love for each other while studying to become jujutsu sorcerers. But then a mission leaves them both with near fatal injuries and a girl they were supposed to protect in the hands of violent criminals.
In part 2 we're making the transition from their 'Fuck around'-period to the 'Find out'-phase. It asks the question of how they cope with the aftermath and whether they're able to avoid the mistakes of the past. Or are they bound to be crushed by the wheels of fate yet again?

Summary
“Let's try again, then”, Satoru states as if it was the simplest thing in the world. "Why not take the next ride and see where it leaves us?”
“You're asking for quite the commitment, you know? Binding my fate to yours?”, Suguru huffs with an unsure smile.
“What? You scared?”, Satoru prompts with a lopsided grin, hoping that it will irk Suguru enough to awaken his petty nature.
The other one snorts. “As if.” And with that, Suguru takes his hand and gets up, lacing their fingers together for the first time.
'All flights North', reads the sign above the gate the pair walks through.

Satoru and Suguru are reborn after the events of chapter 236. What world awaits them and will they overcome the mistakes of their past lives - or repeat them?

Summary
Suguru and Satoru have been living together since they started at uni, and they've been best friends for way longer than that. With Satoru still in uni, and Suguru working odd jobs, they've found something that's not quite stable, but it's good enough. Eventually, Satoru will leave him behind, but for now, it's easier for Suguru to just stick with him and enjoy the ride.
It's not stable, but it's metastable. It's a little wobbly, but it works. That is, until Suguru discovers something that shatters their shaky equilibrium completely.

A smooth blend of classic tropes: a solid base of the roommates-genre with strong notes of nerd-Gojo and worrywart-Suguru with hints of sick fic and a generous dash of voyeurism.
The absence of jujutsu wonderfully opens the palate for the other flavors to develop.

"You must realise I’m not inclined to help you with anything.”
The look Geto gave her was distant, almost fond – nostalgic, even, and it reminded her entirely too much of that day in Shinjuku, after he’d left the school and killed his parents. But then his face twisted up into a much more disgusted grimace, and the moment was gone. “I know you don’t have reason to believe me, but I’m not…him. I’m me again.”
He seemed so sincere, Shoko was almost inclined to believe him. “And?” Geto wasn’t a much better option, all things considered. He was just the evil she knew.
The flat look he threw her screamed Geto Suguru in every single way she knew, and she saw the concession before he gave it to her. “It’s not me that needs help,” he said, catching her off guard. And then: “It’s Satoru.”

Summary
For the past five years, Satoru and Suguru have only met each other for rebounds on a handful of occasions. They haven't seen each other in over a year and barely exchanged a word. Satoru suspects that Suguru might have finally moved on from their messy relationship and found someone new.
On a snowy winter night, Satoru makes a colossal mistake, and the only one he trusts enough to tell and ask for help is Suguru Geto.
“Are you alright?” Suguru asks when Satoru keeps just clinging to him, not even trying to take off his shoes and follow him all the way into the apartment.
Satoru shakes his head almost imperceptibly over his shivering.
“Are you hurt?” is his next question, and his worry has increased tenfold between those two questions. The older man nods once. It’s a short, jerky movement, stiff and unnatural, first up, then down. “Do I need to take you to the hospital?” He shakes his head and buries his face in the crook of Suguru’s neck. He doesn’t want Suguru to see him like this, but he can’t bring himself to let go of him and be alone with this, either.
