Summary
Charles, a poor young man in a violent city, loses friends to mysterious disappearances and witnesses his friend Kenneth being taken. He discovers his mother is behind the disappearances, claiming it’s to protect him, revealing her controlling nature. Disturbed, Charles leaves home, suspicious and unsettled, after meeting a stranger who feels strangely familiar.

Deacon’s perspective on the matter of the painter Chase AU. Turns out there was some sort of sickness surrounding the small town of Sugar Springs. Some scouting troops were picked to scout for food while the rest stayed at home they were called the “Chosen ones” which seems a bit wordy title for people looking for food… So Myra isn’t sick with cancer as many of us thought she’d be in the AU, but was actually infected the disease!

Chase feels he wants to be a painter, it captures the beauty of something like it’s incased in wrapping for the next to admire it. Chase loves art and for one good reason: it makes him happy. As much as he wanted to be a singer to follow his dad’s footsteps, he just couldn’t do it. Though sometimes Chase would sing for fun, he has the talent for it, just not the passion. Chase later meets Buddy like in the og story, fighting over things art related. Then something happens to Buddy that even Chase isn’t sure of.
