Kaveh tilts his head. He follows the grout-line between the tiles with the sole of his shoe subconsciously, grounding himself in the repetitive motion.
Nasir continues with a sigh. “It seems that the Acting Grand Sage intends to decline our request for funding.”
“Ah. That’s… unfortunate.” Kaveh speaks slowly, carefully concealing his initial reaction. This isn’t the first he’s heard of this, but he didn’t consider it to be an actual, real possibility. He’s both shocked and utterly unsurprised at the same time. “But what does that have to do with me, specifically?”
“You know the Acting Grand Sage, do you not?”
A simple question with a complicated answer.

He teases a finger over the curve of Childe’s ear and follows it along his jawline, skims lower to catch his fluttering pulse. Childe leans in despite himself. “Given that we happen to be here and so too are the Captain, the Doctor, and the Regrator—”
“Hold on,” Childe interrupts. “Let me get this straight: you want to watch me get fucked by the Harbingers?”
Zhongli laughs again. It’s achingly sincere. “That is a bit more crass of a phrase than I would have chosen, but yes.”
Or, Zhongli loves watching Childe fall apart to pleasure, so he offers to organize him an orgy. You know, just a thoughtful romantic gesture.

It’s less of a kiss, and more of a slide of lips, wet with blood and tears but he feels Harrington’s grip tighten on the back of his shirt and he pulls back.
