Mirabel was only five years old when her world was shattered, thrown out of the only home she had ever known and left to fend for herself. For ten years she watched as the Madrigals went on without her.

As the years go by Mirabel's anger only grows, and to see the family that betrayed her live such happy lives while she doesn't even have a crumb of food to eat fills her with rage until the person she once was is no more.
The old Mirabel was dead. The new Mirabel wants revenge.
Dolores was forced to stand back in the shadows watching as her family changed to the point she no longer recognised them. She didn't belong with the Madrigals she realises that now. She stays in the dark so they can be in the sun.
She was more a maid than a member of the family. She wanted to make them hear her.
With Mirabel whispering promises of power and vengeance, Dolores can no longer keep up the act.

Summary
When Casita falls, all 6 of the Madrigal grandkids are dragged back into the house and are end up caught in the collapse. The remaining Madrigals are devastated with their deaths.
During the build of Casita, the adults are trying to cope with their children, their sobrinas and sobrinos, her nietos deaths.
But after the build of Casita, the magical house gives back something the elder Madrigals lost.
