Summary
Being loved by Billy Hargrove, was not flowers and hearts and chocolate coated caramels. It was not huge public displays of affection and online declarations of love. It was not even cheap hallmark cards and misshapen teddy bears brought half-heartedly from a gas station. Steve knew that, had long ago accepted that and more importantly, didn’t fucking want anything else. He liked that Billy showed his love in other ways, he liked that he was one of the only people in the world to work out what Billy was trying to say, and he loved that after all these years of being together he had learned to read Billy well enough that he could predict his every move.
Billy didn’t show his love in the same cheesy predictable ways every other boyfriend did. He brought things, did things or said things that showed that he was actually paying attention to Steve.
So what had made Billy suddenly stop? Why had his behaviours suddenly changed? Why did Steve feel like he was watching his relationship crash head-first into a burning dumptruck?
How, after being together for over 20 years, could Billy fucking forget to order him garlic bread? -

Summary
Billy looked him up and down, pink tongue once again peeking out between closed lips. The rain had flattened his curls, limp blonde hair sticking to his forehead and the side of his face. Steve wanted to lick the freckles that stood out sharply on his cheeks.
“You in the mood now?” Billy asked, his trademark smirk growing slowly across his face, like he had read Steve’s thoughts.Continuation from Part 1 but can probably be read as a stand alone.

Summary
He was nervous.
Not ‘waiting for deadly-slimy-reptilian-flower-people to pop out of the walls’ nervous, but more ‘telling your parents you failed chemistry’ nervous.
Or, Steve guessed, like ‘losing your virginity on prom night’ nervous, which was almost exactly what this was.Series
