"First time?"
Leon choked on air. "What?"
"Cuffing somebody." Chris's grin widened. He had smile lines that cut through his rough stubble and it was devastating. "You seem a little nervous."

Summary
"I'm not—" I sputtered, indignant. "I'm not a child! It's a…it's a technicality! And I probably could get it, except they'd want to see my identification, and I—" Marcone held up a hand, forestalling me. Usually that wouldn't have worked, but I was actually relieved for the excuse to shut up.
"You can't get it for me…because you'll be carded?" he asked carefully, his brow furrowing in disbelief.
(Or the one where Marcone learns that by Wizard standards, Dresden isn't actually considered a legal adult).

Summary
When a new Lord or group signs onto the Accords they must have a Knight or group as Protectors. John Marcone didn't know this when he first signed onto the Accords. So the other Lords decide to give him one of theirs. Harry is the unlucky volunteer.
Harry shouldn't have been surprised when he was "volunteered" to become Marcone's Knight. After all, why would the White Council care about him? So he agreed to it expecting to be dead within the year.
Will John be able to give Harry a reason to survive?

Summary
After the events of Small Favor, Harry is rattled on how easily it was for Nicodemus to break the Accords. He has come to realize how fallible they were and thus the danger Chicago was in. Thus the danger Marcone was as its protector and Baron. A little reluctantly he goes to Bob for advice for what he considers an insane idea. If anyone could know if it would even work without talking to the Sidhe, would be his intellectus. Bob confirms that the idea would theoretically would but it would be the first. No one had ever bound another to a vanilla mortal in the way he was suggesting. It would require a lot of time, magic, and a hell of a ritual. But in theory, binding himself to the mobster would give Marcone some protection from the supernatural. They wouldn't know the side effects beforehand though.
So with that in mind, Harry goes to the man and makes his case. For the sake of Chicago, and maybe to a small extent, for Marcone's safety. After getting a second opinion from Gard, Marcone agrees.

It changes nothing, yet everything all at once.or,
Five times Verso dies for a member of Expedition 33, and one time, they show him he doesn't have to.

Summary
"The dark waves are seething and gurgling, licking the caramel sand like a thirsty animal laps up the water by the stream; and they whisper words of wisdom in their mysterious oceanic language few can understand. They spew well-polished stones and pieces of colorful glass onto the shore, underwater treasures tangled in a mess of rotting seaweed. But among the usual aquatic gifts, there’s one in particular that differs from other inanimate objects; it is a body of a young man, pale skin shining under the bright moon light with an almost otherworldly glow."
Verso Dessendre finds himself laying on the familiar shore, water in his lungs and a ringing silence in his head. How did he end up in the Canvas again, and why does it look so different from what he painted years ago, as a child?

Summary
"This feeling that all my thoughts and memories… that they’re not mine, that they’ve been put into my head by somebody else… does it ever go away?”
It comes out almost pleadingly, the desperation Gustave tried to suppress for months now bleeding into his voice.
Something softens in Verso’s expression.
Or: the Maelle ending. Coming to terms with being brought back and repainted. Gustave is looking for some answers, so he goes to the one person who can provide them. Verso is absolutely done with this life, but feels obligated to at least talk to him.
They find that being a copy of a dead man is less unbearable when you're not alone.

Summary
Verso fully intended for Gustave to die at Renoir’s hand. He'd been hoping and planning for this while stalking them across the Continent, crafting ideas on how to insert himself into the empty space left behind, using the man's death as kindling to instill a burning drive in Alicia to force their mother out of the Canvas at long last. This had been his single-minded goal from the beginning of Expedition 33's doomed journey. Everything hinged upon on this one moment, this small sacrifice in a long line of expedition martyrs.
But somehow, despite all of his meticulous planning, he didn't take into account the possibility that the man could be his Alpha.

This was nothing like Verso had planned in the slightest.
He was supposed to let him die. Now he has to deal with a curious, smart, and talented engineer that makes him feel things he really doesn't want to unpack yet. Monoco is absolutely going to tease him about this later.

Summary
Gustave has a list of reasons to hate Verso Dessendre.
Top of the list? Attempted murder.
Close second? Being insufferably sad about it.
It should’ve been easy to keep his distance — except now they’re stuck sharing dinners, side-eyes, and increasingly complicated silences.
Gustave wanted closure. Not feelings.
Too bad Verso looks at him like he’s already forgiven him for everything.

Summary
Was it possible that this man was still alive? It shouldn’t be, not after the blows Renoir had dealt and yet, impossibly, the man still clung to a thread of life. Stubbornly as he had fought Renoir, he stubbornly fought death. Pity, mixed with that same discordant respect as earlier, Renoir lifted his cane to deliver a final blow. This too would be a mercy.
Or: Sophie called Gustave the most stubborn person she knew and I decided to take that personally.
A Gustave lives au, where trapped in the manor he must unravel the mystery of the man from the beach and his daughter and find his way back to his friends before it's too late.

Verso let Gustave die on those cliffs, but he couldn't bring himself leave him there.
He should know that despite good intentions, his sentimentality has never ended well for him.
This becomes even more evident to him as he watches the picto he contained Gustaves chroma in, dissolve into his skin.

Summary
In the corner of the cellar, there was a man.
He was huddled and curled as much into a ball as he could manage, but one hand was fixed to the wall with a chain so short that he had no choice but to leave the limb outstretched and pitifully exposed. His hair was dark, copious, and bloody.
He was also supposed to be dead.
