    How does a slave from the stables end up being shipped off to a neighboring country as a gift to warm the bed of the crown prince? Well, Hua Cheng wasn't actually in the room at the time but, judging by everything he's put together and what Yin Yu has told him, it goes something like this.

    1 The King of Yong’an wants to conquer Xianle.

    2 The King doesn't want Xianle to know that yet so that he can take them by surprise.

    3 To bring this about the King wants a spy deep enough in Xianle’s royal court that they can learn the royal family’s most intimate and military secrets, and who could be better positioned to do that than a concubine?

    So 4 the King of Yong’an tells his inner counsel that the first step in his invasion plan is to give the crown prince a concubine.

     

    Or Hua Cheng is given to the crown prince of Xianle as a concubine with the job of seducing him in order to spy on him for the neighboring kingdom of Yong'an, but when real feelings get involved things get ...complicated

    Noticing Xie Lian’s attention on him, Hua Cheng’s lip curled into half a smile as he tilted his head.
    “Tinder, hm?”, he drawled, “what for?”
    Xie Lian rubbed a hand against his forehead, Hua Cheng’s direct question leaving him flustered.
    “Ah, Qingxuan said that it could be good for me to…”, another sheepish cough, “to get to know some new people. To, uh-“, Xie Lian looked away, “…to flirt.”
    He could feel the weight of Hua Cheng’s stare against the side of his face.
    “…To flirt”, Hua Cheng repeated, his face unreadable.

    Xie Lian downloads a dating app. Hua Cheng is of course there to help him.

    Our tale begins with Xie Lian hiring an escort to help him deal with an “unspeakable affliction” after a disastrous breakup forced him to leave college and return to his hometown.

    Hua Cheng (or Wuming, as he is called when we first meet him) isn’t really interested in helping people—he just wants to get paid. If the situation with a client seems too complicated to deal with, he has no problem walking away. But for some reason he can’t explain, he feels compelled to help Xie Lian.

    The two find themselves very quickly drawn to one another, but nothing in life is easy, especially when it comes to love.

    Xie Lian is struggling to forget about the demise of the relationship that ruined his life—a struggle complicated by the fact that his ex may or may not be stalking him.

    Meanwhile, Hua Cheng is busy running from a past that will soon catch up to him with deadly consequences.

    Either by chance or fate, they met through one of the mission the government had put Xie Lian on. One thing lead to another, and Xie Lian couldn't put his head around Hua Cheng's unpredictable behavior. Especially towards him. How Fascinating. Maybe he wasn't as bad as everyone made him to be.
