Summary
The world wanted them to meet and part, a vicious cycle that left them both dizzy. They had progressed from enemies to allies, from allies to something indescribable, and every meeting was a new introduction to the blurred lines of their unspecified relationship. He went from reporting to a woman in northern Fire to reporting directly to Kakashi, thanks to Jiraiya’s constant movements and the shifting of the man’s spy network. Jiraiya was getting closer to accumulating all of the pieces of the puzzle, but there were only so many pieces left on the proverbial table. Itachi couldn’t always report, at times being spotty at best, but he tried to gather as much information as he could to tip off the right person.

Summary
In the black, twin points of glowing red appear, fierce and burning eyes that stop Lan Wangji in his tracks. He stares, swallowing thickly, before taking another step. This one is met with a growl, almost like an animal and hardly like a man.
“Get out.”
The voice is low, dripping with warning, and Wangji thinks that listening might be wise.
“No,” he says instead.
The bodiless voice laughs, a haunting thing that echoes in the stone walls.
“They sent me such a pretty young master,” it drawls. Wangji can almost feel the voice caressing his skin, and shivers. “Shame on them.”
(The Yiling Patriarch is taken captive. Lan Wangji is tasked with keeping his power at bay.)

Summary
Kakashi and Naruto embark on one final mission together before Kakashi takes up the position of Hokage. The mission starts off easy but quickly turns dangerous as they reach the borderlands of Sunagakure. Desperate to keep Naruto safe, Kakashi misleads the younger man into making his escape. The pair end up facing the consequences of their actions; regret for leaving things unsaid driving them to make difficult choices. Will they finally find each other in the darkness?
