    There’s a sniffle.

    A tiny little sound in the vast, empty darkness of Eddie’s bedroom. The walls of his and Steve’s apartment are thin. But not so thin that he should be able to hear a nose being cleared in the next bedroom over. It makes him open his eyes—blearily, since he was half-asleep and ready to doze into the soft, silky pillowcase under his head. He heaves a sigh and looks over his shoulder with an awkward bend of his neck, the rest of his body still facing the blank wall across from him.
