"You don't need to apologize. I don't think it's rude." Shin finished his meal by setting his chopsticks on the table. "I am going out for a run now."
"Oh." And Sena visibility deflated.
Shin raised a brow. "You can come if you want to."
And the kid immediately perked up. "Really? You don't mind?"
But more importantly, Shin actually offered. No, Sena did not ask, Shin personally offered. He didn't even offer Sakuraba to train with him. Sakuraba simply invited himself into it and Shin neither declined nor accepted.
"Running is better with a companion. It's motivating. Especially if it's with you."
Wow.
Takami had that face. Are you hearing this shit? Was written all over his face and Sakuraba wanted to ask the same thing.
"Okay. Let's go." Sena crammed the last of his meal quickly then got up to follow Shin outside.

“Friends, huh? That what we are?” There’s suddenly a deeper tone to Bucky's voice. He's probably sitting in his office, with his secretary right outside. Behind the same desk they banged on a few weeks ago. God. Sam inhales and shifts around in his chair.
“That’s what you said. Right, buddy?” Sam revels in the ever-suffering groan Bucky lets out. Knows he’s tossing his head back, opening up the smooth length of his neck that Sam loves to dig his teeth into.
“I explained about that.”
“Was that before or after you choked me out? Can’t recall right now. Maybe you can jog my memory—”

“Bucky—“ Joaquin starts. “Er— I mean… Sargent Barnes? Senator? Whatever, just listen. He isn’t conscious yet, and—“
“I just want to check on him,” Bucky says, “He doesn’t have to be awake for me to see if he’s okay.”
“Well— yeah,” Joaquin says. “But listen, he’s— he’s different.”
And this, finally, has Bucky stop in his tracks, in the middle of a sterile corridor with painfully bright fluorescents humming overhead.
“Different?” Bucky repeats. “Different how?”
“They did things to him,” Joaquin says. He’ll hardly meet his eyes. “He- He was awake, sort of, when we found him. And he wasn’t— I mean, he wasn’t not Sam, but he was… wrong. In shock, maybe, but they did things to him, experiments, and—“
And maybe Joaquin thought this would make Bucky hesitate. Maybe he thought Bucky would listen more once he heard the gravity of the situation.
Instead, Bucky sets off in a run.

Or rather, that fic where Sam Wilson gets actual wings after being captured and experimented on, and Bucky Barnes is there to help him learn how to live again.
