Simon looks older. Quieter. More cautious.
Grace is sure Simon sees the same. Two sides of the same coin, two men both touched by the passage of time and circumstance.
_____
Thanks to Rocky and Adrian, Ryland Grace is suddenly thrown into lab work for the first time in years. His Summer break is now filled with petri dishes, poor notetaking practices, and Adrian's engineering coworker wiggling his way back into Grace's heart after destroying it twelve years ago.
Simon Fischer has made peace with his existence. He has his cat, a small house, and his garden. It's more than he deserves after the monstrous accident his work as a combat engineer caused. But, something about seeing Ryland Grace's smile has Simon hoping for more.
Memories old and new swirl between the two men. What happened all those years ago? Can they try again?
You know what they say: third time's the charm.

Summary
“If you could go anywhere in the universe right now, where would you go?”
Remus chews the inside of his cheek as he considers. He glances sidelong at Sirius. Reclined in the passenger seat with his feet kicked up on the dashboard, tapping the beat to the music on the door with his fingers, Sirius looks completely at home.
Here, probably, he thinks.
UK, 1977. Remus had a plan. He was going to take an idyllic road trip across America with his best friend. He was going to write something that mattered. He wasn't going to be what his dad wanted him to be.
Getting bitten by a zombie dog wasn't part of his plan.
Now, Remus is parentless, homeless, and searching for his friend on the off-chance he’s still out there. But as it happens, the universe has a plan for him, and it involves hitching a ride with a trio of posh boys who like to plunder fallen towns...and maybe saving humanity in the process.
It’s the zombie fucking apocalypse and Remus Lupin is still alive.
(A tale of resistance, found family, and what it means to be human.)
