the question was, how would emma and regina reveal their relationship to mary margaret? would they use pet names for one another, make a sexual joke just to freak her out, kiss in front of her, or just tell her outright?
and the answer, of course, was...why not all four?based on/inspired by a post from the swan queen polls twitter account.

“I dunno,” Emma says as they enter the stairwell. She takes them two at a time. “We just…don’t wanna make a big thing of it. Everything’s always so serious all the time here, you know? This is just…casual.”
“Ew,” Henry balks. “I so did not need to know that.”
Emma turns back to flash him a scowl. “Not our relationship, kid. The whole guessing thing. I meant that this way it doesn’t have to be a big deal. They’ll figure it out eventually.”
“Yeah, in ten years, maybe,” Henry mutters.
Regina reaches out and rubs his shoulder as they reach the door to the loft. “I’ll make sure it clicks sooner. Don’t worry.”
“God,” Emma mumbles. “I don’t wanna know. Not after the whole daddy thing.”
“The what –” Henry starts, but the door swings open then, and he shuts his mouth.

Zelena curses everyone into the holiday hallmark sitcom of everyone's nightmares, supposedly in order to show Regina that her life with Robin isn't so bad. Emma and Regina are married, Robin with someone else in order to make Regina jealous. And it just might be working! Until, you know. Emma and Regina kiss for the first time.
And then they wake up.
Which means...that was a /true love's/ kiss.Things just got a hell of a lot more interesting.

--“Ugh.” Regina sneers. “I can't believe that I’m in love with you.”
“...You are?” Emma asks. “Like, actually?”
Regina throws her hands into the air. “Apparently. The kiss proved it, didn't it?” With that, she storms out of the room, still fuming.
Zelena eyes her. “...Are you going to do the fist thing?” She mimics the motion, jerky and a little awkward, with a quirk of a smile at her lips. “You know? Like the breakfast movie?” -

“Oh, shut up,” Emma grumbles, employing an exorbitant amount of self-will to stop herself from stamping her foot against the ground like a child. “Just get on the treadmill.”
Regina glares. “Don’t tell me what to do.”
Emma realizes at this moment that this personal trainer situation is going to be much harder than she’d made it out to be. “Fine. Will you please get on the treadmill, Your Majesty?”
or, Regina starts going to the gym. Emma offers her services.

And later, when it's just the two of them and the night sky above them, Emma takes Regina on a musing walk through her mind that changes things between them forever, but, really, it doesn't change a single thing. And Regina is so there for it.

Summary
3B AU. Emma and Henry’s fake memories wrote Regina into their lives as a dead wife and mother. Henry can barely remember a thing, but he knows that nothing about Storybrooke, Maine makes any sense, and everyone is looking at him like they’re afraid of saying something they aren’t supposed to. In fact, he thinks the only person who might not be lying to him is the mayor. Regina Mills.
He turns when someone drops down beside him like he’s expecting to see her there, book in hand and reading glasses slipping down her nose, but it’s just Ma, and she’s alone. She’s not leaning over the back of the couch to nudge Mom’s glasses back into place, or grin when Mom swats her hand away. She just sighs, and they’re alone.
(And in the memory, his mom has no face. His therapist says this is normal. Trauma affects the memory in complex ways, Henry.
Whatever. What kind of person forgets what their mom looked like?)
