Summary
After making the move to the small town of Cedar Woods, Oregon, writer Castiel Novak struggles to reconcile his past with his present. Working for the town newspaper, he learns more about the tight-knit community through the articles he writes. And then there's also Dean Winchester, another journalist who manages to discover all of Castiel's weaknesses within minutes. Though, it doesn't take long for summer days to give way to dark nights where Castiel is haunted by the mistakes he made. Becoming unlikely partners with Dean was never part of the plan, but it's what he gets when an inexplicable event takes place in the woods. The more they uncover, the more Castiel begins to wonder whether reality really is the stuff of his nightmares.

** Frequently reviewed as "I didn't think I'd like it but I love it." Hahaha**After being forced out for "fun" by his brother, Dean finds himself hooking up with a stranger in the bathroom. He didn't even get the guy's name and never expected to see him again.
But, of course the Universe doesn't work like that.
His new roommate looks an awful lot like Bathroom Guy but keeps treating Dean like a stranger...not to mention he isn't putting up with Dean's shit. Dean really shouldn't find that as hot as he does.

Summary
LJ DCBB 2013. It’s been nineteen years since the beginning of the Last War, and the Alliance Army is losing land faster than it can supply good men to defend it. Their hope is the synthesis of Android Angeles, a series of humanoid machines designed without the capacity to feel, and thus enabling them to be the perfect super soldiers. In order to check their battle suitability, the first prototypes are sent down with a landing party of the men they will later replace, and Sergeant Dean Winchester is paired with Unit 5284-C-S-T-L for the assignment. Cas, as Dean nicknames him, is easy enough to work with - once you get past the emotional vacancy and blatant disregard for human life, that is - but as the squad's tour goes on, Dean gets to wondering whether the Android Angeles are really as unfeeling as he's been told, or if the fear of a reality in which malfunctioning prototypes will be shut down is too great for them to exist any other way.
