There was a common misunderstanding about butcher shops, where, more often than not, people assumed they smelled of blood. A good butcher kept their work environment clean, sterile, and spotless. Lysol would hit your nose before anything else, the floor shinier than you might have expected, everything trimmed in fine silver lacings and sprinkled with that sort of shine and polish that only came from a good, deep bleaching of the surface.
