Truly one of the greatest fics of all time despite its very minor flaws but honestly, it's written for FREE for the public so there's no place to complain right? But really, it's just tooooo good for you to even care about the teeny tiny flaws anyways. Loved LOVED the way the story progress and how it's not your typical ABO setting. Started for the mpreg junnie tag but stayed for how absolutely marvelous the world building, the plot, the characterization and the description about spoils of war. Each character was lustrous despite carrying abundance of questionable traits n decision-making ability. Everyone left some sort of impact and played a significant role; whether it's the asshole alphas like Joonwoo or the Only-appeared-twice alpha kid. Couldn't bring to even hate any of them despite some obviously hold fucked up morals because it is how it is when everyone just wants to survive. It's a logical story yet nicely blended with the emotional side of humans (&werewolves). It nicely captured the darker spectrum of a person's mind when placed in a stressful circumstance and how we as reader can somewhat understand the choices these characters make albeit how morally wrong it is.
Basically this a beautifully crafted biography about a person who was presented with many choices but it wasn't included with the freedom to make any. About a person that ended up being revered as some sort of savior but was only truly trying to survive in a new environment that was forced into his life. About a person that became a living proof of how war doesn't bear mercy to anyone.
Though there's some semblance of romance (and spicy adult scenes!) in it, I love how it isn't entirely the most focused topic. SooJun's love/romance here is slightly ambiguous and whether the two parties are aware of it or not, it's kind of cryptic and conditional. Though they truly love each other, it masks the idea of that love being something that comes with incentive. But I love it!!! I love when the relationship of the pairing isnt necessarily clear and precise (and all rainbows n stuff) and it leaves a little bit of imagination for audience to interpret it. I see their love is like an elegant dance that treads on the edge of sanity.
Conclusion, TXT is fking lucky to have such a fic in its fandom because holy shit, it's just too groundbreaking. I don't usually read long ass fics because I don't have that much attention on just one story but really, this one deserves all of my focus. Start to finish: simply astonishing. A million kudos isnt enough to show what a great fic it is and though it's a shame the author has closed the comment section (because i would def write a much more LONG ASS thought about this instead of here), I hope the author knows that I'M SO GRATEFUL FOR THE EXISTENCE OF THIS FIC AND MAY ITS BRILLIANCE BE PRESERVED TILL END OF TIME!!!
tldr: JUST READ THIS. TOO GOOD TO IGNORE.
Side note: I read this whole fic while listening to the OST for the horror anime 'Shiki' and it seriously just suits perfectly. I do get reminded of that anime when reading this and sometimes I wonder if the author has ever watched it and partially get inspired by it? Though that anime isnt about werewolves and more about vampires trying to 'integrate' themselves into the human society but their method isnt exactly...yeah. Which then leads to a 'war' between humans and vampires. Also that anime's setting is like a rural japanese village while this fic is more modern.
What makes me kinda relate that anime and this fic is due to how both stories doesnt exactly paint which is the good guys and which isnt as they equally show how both humans and lycans/vampires can be cruel when their security/comfort zone is being threatened (and how everyone just wants to survive despite each with different means) so it leaves you thinking who is actually the bad ones. I love that because the concept of justice is arbitrary and depends on the lens of who is benefitting the most from it. Both stories are philosophical as they're not your typical horror that's just about blood, violence and jumpscares; it leaves you hanging and questioning a lot of moral aspects instead. This fic focuses more on the werewolves POV while Shiki nicely tackles both (though leaned more on the humans POV though).
