There’s a lot life teaches you; even if you don’t wish to learn. For Ivan, maybe the lessons started when his parents probably gave up on him or died or whatever else that could’ve happened that led to them abandoning him. The lessons continued, from the time his favourite lemon candy would have always run out of stock and he’d have to settle for the orange one, or maybe dinner didn’t have the stew he longed to eat, or that his shoes were never quite comfortable.
