Summary
The spaceship was everything that parlour doors are not. Parlour doors tend to be simple, made of wood, and oftentimes rather elegant. The spaceship, on the other hand, was ostentatiously complex, made of metal and rock, and ugly. However, both spaceships and parlour doors have only one purpose. I’m not quite sure what parlour doors are for, but they only ever perform like parlour doors. They are never, say, can openers. The spaceship was also not a can opener. Nor was it ever an escape pod, a mining machine, or a luxury cruise ship. It was a prison.
(A story about how the grey infinity of emotionless and the void of space become one and the same, eventually.)
