Kazuma swallows. Tastes it on his tongue, in his mouth, through his throat. It's sinfully sweet when it slips out: "How drunk are you, anyway?"
Because Ryunosuke is right there, you know. Right there, all warm and flushed against him, little breaths puffing out through his mouth. Had he taken another sip of his drink while Kazuma wasn't looking? His mouth looks wet. As though he had, as though he hadn't wiped his mouth, as though it hasn't dried quite yet. Kazuma could find out for himself.
Ryunosuke blinks. "Uh," he says. Furrows his eyebrows. "Fairly?" A beat. "Why do you ask?"
"No reason."

Zenitsu learned how to read in temple school, but it was no teacher who taught him how to play—it was the instruments themselves, each and every one of them teaching him their pitches and notes as they were passed into his hands.
“A prodigy,” one teacher praised after the first music lesson the boy ever had.
He needed no sheet, nor instruction; he watched and listened, and then, he was the one being watched and listened to. When he opened his eyes with an inhale and one final note, eyes glimmered with awe and mouths moved with excitement.
But he could not hear any words—the flute in his hand was still singing, its desire for him to listen taking his senses. His classmates crowded him, but they might have been acres away. Echoing in his ears, in the hollow of his chest, in the chambers of his heart, there was only music.
