    When he turned over his shoulder, the knight found Scott standing only a few paces away, with the mage wearing a soft look of understanding on his face free of any judgment. Floating around him were tiny orbs of light, illuminating the area if only for a moment.

    The light likely exposed the clear insincerity in the smile Nom offered. “I’ve been better.”
