Lui giggles, walking forward to sit on Laplus’s desk. She towers over her, presses a finger to the tip of one of Laplus’s horns with a suave sort of expression. “I’m here.” Then she says it. “Laplus.”
There is no real way to describe it. Laplus can’t quite put it into words. The way the girls say her name rings different each time, sends butterflies crowding at the base of her skull until she is light and floating and smiling goofily. She is warmed, she is melted, she is putty in their hands.

“Humm, yeah.” As soon as the words rang, a dire sense of embarrassment flooded Towa’s system. She had been so taken aback by the girl, she had forgotten about appearances and presentation. For good measure, she made her eyes flare up, then continued with a booming voice. “Y-You have summoned me, at the price of your soul. I can grant you one wish, and upon its realization, you shall surrender it to me. Your soul that is. For— for all eternity.”
Overwhelmed by the urge to rock back and forth on her inexistant feet, her foggy form ended up just swaying awkwardly from side to side.
The girl — Nene, her name was Nene, Towa reminded herself — merely nodded weakly before getting caught in a coughing fit. Her frame shook violently, struggling to even double over because of the amount of wires stringing her down. After a few cavernous coughs resonating between her ribs, her breath eventually calmed down.
“My soul is just about all I have left.” She nodded towards her bed-ridden body with a small derisory laugh. “You can have it.”
