Summary
Enki Ankarian is a misanthropic loser with a chip on his shoulder and an anime figurine collection that cost him about $7,000. He has no friends to speak of, no family that wants to talk to him, and nothing going for himself outside of a well-paying job in software development he tolerates because it enables him to collect more items of interest. He is depressed, he cannot stop drinking, and he hates himself and those around him.
So, after a night of binge-drinking and bad food, Enki finds himself kneeling on a piss-stained bathroom tile floor and puking his guts up. What would be most people's low point was just another Friday for him. That is, until a stranger came to give him comfort, unintentionally changing his life's trajectory forever.
Ragnvaldr is a personal trainer and infuriatingly kind person who reaches out to Enki in his time of need. Despite initially appearing to have little in common, the two connect and become friends, spending several nights a week together talking about life, death, childhood, and what it means to be a person. Enki is smitten nearly immediately - and despises himself for it. There is no way this beautiful, kind person would ever want anything to do with him - right?
