Summary
Set during their tense journey through the ruins of Washington, D.C., Negan finds himself trapped in an uneasy truce with the woman who hates him most. As a sudden downpour forces them to take shelter in an abandoned brownstone, Negan confronts the suffocating gravity of his past actions, the quiet brutality of Maggie's silence, and the uncomfortable realization that forgiveness is a debt he can never repay.

Ashes in the City by Cupping_Cakes
AI Slop.
Most likely written by Claude due to verbal tics. Was hoping the author would tag this as AI-generated as I've already pointed this out on another one of their fics that had all the hallmarks of Claude writing (Not x, not y, but z / clean / math / short, choppy sentences / "A beat.") and they blocked me and deleted the fic. This one is less obvious, but the Claude-isms (particularly the Not X, Not Y, But Z) are there in this one too.
Here's a few examples from the text that read like Claude 101:
"Her voice wasn't cold. It wasn't angry. It was just... quiet."
"She looked down at him—not with hatred, not with forgiveness, but with a strange, solemn weight that seemed far heavier than either."
"He saw it in her eyes—not the cold hatred, not the unyielding wall of stone, but shock."It's a shame, I've actually read some of this author's older fics and they're fucking amazing. Shame to see them resort to this.

Summary
When a supply expedition far beyond the familiar settlements goes catastrophically wrong, Negan and Maggie become stranded together hundreds of miles from home. Their radio is destroyed. Their horses scatter. Every road is swallowed by the dead, desperate survivors, and remnants of violent groups left behind after the fall.
Neither of them trusts the other.
Neither of them can survive alone.
Forced into an uneasy partnership, Maggie and Negan navigate abandoned towns, frozen forests, and forgotten communities while confronting the ghosts they've spent years trying to outrun. Every mile strips away old assumptions. Every decision forces them to choose whether vengeance still has a place in a world that demands cooperation.Trust isn't given.
Forgiveness isn't promised.
But survival has a way of changing people.Series

Ashes Of New by Cupping_Cakes
AI Slop. Most likely written by Claude due to verbal tics. This one is VERY obvious, more so than Ashes in the City.
The most obvious giveaway in this fic is the crazy aggressive use of sentence fragments and short declaratives as a lazy rhythmic device. "Too quiet." / "Just a hunting knife through the temple." / "Funny." / "Fine by him."
This shit shows up constantly, and the problem isn't that short sentences are bad, they can be super great and emotionally leading when used, but it's that they appear CONSTANTLY which is common with AI.
There's also a metric fucking ton of stacked short declaratives, which again, humans use as a garnish but AI uses as teh default setting in its writing.
I mean, just look at this abundance of short, choppy sentences that double as their own paragraph and are used by AI to increase emotional moments. These can be used by real humans, but not in these quantities. There are whole sections where no paragraph has more than 5 words in it for a whole section. Examples: "She paused." / "Negan watched her." / "Maggie stopped." / "Maggie didn't answer." / "She did not look at Maggie." / "It wasn't an accusation." / "It was a statement of fact." / "Real rustic." / "We keep it clean." / "They drink." / "They rest." / "She turned to Negan." / "He didn't look good."/ "In the corners." / "Like the fog." / "But she’s there." / "Negan didn't seem to notice." / "On that log." / "He doesn't look angry." / "Maggie didn't laugh." / "Too quiet." / "He hated quiet." / "Fine by him." / "Maggie hadn't." / "Neither had he." / "Especially now." / "Then the bridge collapsed." / "The horses bolted." / "There had only been four." / "Only two." / "Nobody said it aloud." / "Negan stood." / "He blinked." / "Business as usual." / "No theatrics." / "No speeches." / "No Lucille." / "Funny." / "Not hard." / "Empty shelves." / "Broken coolers." / "Dead for years." / "He called out." / "She ignored him." / "Again." / "He smiled anyway." / "Thunder rolled." / "The rain intensified." / "Three cans of beans." / "Half a sack of rice." / "Dried venison." / "Coffee." / "One bottle of iodine." / "Bandages."
AND THIS IS JUST FROM 11 PAGES WORTH!
You're also noticing a shit ton of syntactic omission/telegraphic language/parataxis, which AI LOVE.
AI dialogue also shows a trend twoard coming out as declarative and overly-formal even when it's meant to sound casual, and it overuses the short exchange as a lazy foundation for emotional back-and-forth. Almost every conversation in this fic has the same fucking beats: a short line, a short response,a short line, a short response, then a beat of silence that gets described almost like it's a person in the fucking convo, then it starts all over again. Real, human conversation has interruptions, incomplete thoughts, run-ons, misreadings. We see this in fic ALL THE TIME.
