Wanda misses her brother. It’s been a mere few days since she saw his body carried off to the morgue. It’s been a mere few days since his sheet-white skin and motionless lips were carted away from her. But she can sometimes feel his presence, his spirit, until… until his body went missing. And the presence left her. And her body retched up blood…
Pietro is dead. Was dead, rather. Wanda knows that he died. She was looking through his eyes, but she doesn’t know exactly how it felt. But he remembers the bullets piercing his skin, he remembers the sound of the machine gun, and he remembers the feeling of his cloth tearing. He remembers the child who stared in horror at his savior, and he remembers his last thoughts being relief, because he knew that Wanda would be okay.
But… then he woke up. On a metal table. With a blonde assigned to accompany him and a buzzing in his head that made him believe every conspiracy theory she spouted. And he knows two things: Pietro is alive… and Wanda will not be safe so long as she’s under the Avengers’ watch.
