The words even feel sharp as they fall off his tongue - he feels like there’s a sword that’s been plunged through his mouth and goes all the way down to his guts. Skewering him open, splitting him in half, letting the innards fall out onto the floor. The floor of the threshold, no less, because he can’t forget that they’re still having it out in public - not even behind closed doors. This runs counter to every instinct, every inch of control he’s ever exercised over his life. There’s a clear gap in his armor and it is named Keigo.
Keigo grins again in clear spite of it all: in spite of Enji’s saturnine nature, of Endeavor nearly lighting him on fire just hours before, in spite of everything. Everything and the world, too.
