    Vander wasn't much of a religious man, but given that he couldn't seem to shake a bird that strongly resembled the spirit Janna's supposed form, he couldn't help but pray to her occasionally. And, if getting four kids under his wing who all scared him half to death on the regular wasn't a reason to pray more, he didn't know what was.

    Then one day a mysterious woman with long, flowing white hair walked into The Last Drop, and stole his heart.

    We both know that they are not going to sleep. We both know that the moment they go still, they will be dead. And I will be alone. But I won’t say that, and they won’t say that, even if it’s the truth. 

    “You…save Erid,” they say. 

    Not a question. 

    I will be the last Eridian on our ship. I will be the last hope. 

    Or I will die. Just like every other Eridian has died here, and will eventually die on Erid, because we failed.  

    I shift low, close to where my last friend lays. “You sleep, I will watch,” I tell them again. 

    And they go to sleep. 

    And they never wake up again. 

    Rocky loses everyone on his crew.

    Years later, he meets an alien.
