Summary
Mithrun has an assignment: What may be a new dungeon has opened up near a recently settled orc village a day’s ride south of the castle. Mithrun also has a problem: This assignment comes right before the festival celebrating the two-year anniversary of Melini rising from the ocean and King Laios’s crowning.
He can’t put off something so potentially hazardous to the country as a new dungeon. But Kabru was so looking forward to celebrating their own two-year anniversary during the festival. Maybe there’s a souvenir Mithrun can bring back from the dungeon that will make it up to him…
(Or: Mithrun is absolutely not looking for a bright purple flower with extremely aphrodisiac yellow pollen on this assignment. Not one bit. And if he found it, he wouldn’t bring that home to Kabru. Never.)

Summary

Five years after the IED that killed his squadmates, left Mithrun deaf in his torn right ear, took his right eye, and saw him honorably discharged from the Canaries, Mithrun is finally convinced by his case manager, Pattadol, to join a research study on survivor’s guilt.
