Read GutterBall's fantastic fic 'The Little Shatterdome Around the Corner', which convinced me to ship Chuck and Raleigh, and in the process was inspired to write this.
Chuck and Raleigh are matched as mentor/mentee buddies while at the Academy, semi-anonymously, and fall in love while waiting to meet up when Chuck graduates. Only, Knifehead happens. And everything falls apart.
Only, by pure coincidence, they start messaging again fully anonymously on a Kaiju-loss forum.
