Summary
“What did you kill?”
“A griffin. My first. Or, I guess, my first on my own.”
“Are you going to give me details?”
Geralt puts his mug down and shrugs. “What d’you want to know?”
Jaskier scoffs. “I want to know all of it! Obviously!”
Geralt puts the mug down. “You… want to know about a witcher hunt?”
“Course I do!” Jaskier replies. “It’s so exciting! Very knight in shining armor, really. And that makes for an excellent story. Actually, that isn’t a bad idea.”
“What isn’t a bad idea?” Geralt’s face is going worried. His eyes are going wide in a really adorable way and he’s wringing his hands. His fingernails actually still have blood underneath them, which should not be sexy at all.
“I could write songs about you. You know, how witchers are doing us all a big favor, how you’re all kind and good and really, tragically good looking.”
Or: the one where Jaskier meets Geralt when he's completely fresh faced, barely out of training, and ready to make a difference.

Summary
To a witcher, touch is almost never a good thing.
Touch means something or someone has gotten too close. Close enough to rend open the places where armour doesn’t protect the vulnerabilities underneath. Close enough to see the pulse where it beats just under the surface, to identify where to strike.
To Geralt, touch is everything beyond that, too. He craves the moments where touch doesn’t mean pain, damage, or potential death, but where it means safety and care. In a witcher’s life, those moments are far and few between.
Geralt bears it and watches the seasons change until he can take out that part of himself for winter, and let it breathe. He’s used to it, and he’s already endured it for decades when he meets Jaskier

“Are you working for the KHA now? I thought you died!”
“I’ve only been gone for two weeks,” Jinwoo said, his voice flat.

Summary
Adrian Hawke ran with Anders. As Ferelden dissolves into open warfare, he knows they can't remain in their sanctuary, no matter how much he wishes for it. Justice can’t abide it, nor can Anders. And he'll follow Anders past the edge of the world.
If Anders' actions in Kirkwall weren't enough to remove the possibility of compromise, the Conclave’s destruction annihilated any remaining chance that Thedas might revert to its prior normalcy. Justice still has demands, however; and the dissolution of the Circles will not be enough. Mercy without justice is hollow. Justice without mercy is cruel. And begets only more injustice.
Rhys Trevelyan spent most of his life unwilling to entertain the idea of a fate other than confinement in a Circle – easier to anesthetize his despondence and not make a fuss. Suddenly saddled with the responsibility of closing the Breach and backed by the belief of hundreds of thousands, Rhys has more power than he ever imagined – or wanted. Enough to change the world. But unless he can find the will to master that power himself, there are plenty of people who will master it on his behalf.
