“So.” Sophia turns to face her fully. Her antlers glow faintly in the emergency lights. Manon wonders if that’s intentional or if Sophia just has that effect on lighting. “I think we might be stuck here.”
No shit, Manon nearly quips. But Sophia’s only here because of her, and that small, small, she emphasizes, small guilty part of Manon feels awful about that. So…kindness rules. For the day.
“Merry apocalypse,” Manon, sarcastic — because even though she won’t say something as harsh as no shit, that doesn’t mean she’s going to be one of God’s perfect little angels. Go to the church a few streets down for one of those — and filled with faux-cheer, remarks.
Or: Manon and Sophia are co-workers. It's all fine and dandy, till a snowstorm comes and leaves them stuck in the office together. An office with a continually lowering temperature. It's a good thing they're hopelessly in love (human body heat is a phenomenal thing, indeed)!
