Summary
It had been five years since that night, and it still haunted her. Five years since she’d last stepped foot in Cousins, much less on that beach. Five years since everything fell apart.
Belly comes back to Cousins five years after her failed wedding to find a very nerve wracking, yet very pleasant surprise— in the shape of the boy she’d always loved.

Summary
As if on cue, his laughs ricochet all over the suddenly narrow walls of the living room. Her head turns like a broken elastic band, whiplash. It is ironic that he would reprimand her for it, you can risk hyperextending your neck, Belly. And she should know better, but it would appear that her brain has been trained or rewired to respond to his voice, like an ultrasound whistle audible only to her.
Like a command.
(or: Conrad gets randomly selected to do his residency at Mass General and Belly is totally fine because there are no lingering feelings.)

Or: Belly never received the letters Conrad wrote while she was in Paris. Now, years later, they find each other again in New York City, away from the others—and it may be the beginning, or the continuation, of what was always meant to be.
