Summary
When Lan Wangji turns around, the ghost is standing in front of him.
“Holy shit,” the dead man says, eyes wide. “You can hear me, too?”
Lan Wangji stiffens in shock, 26 years of unbroken rules shattering to pieces before his senses. He can see the bustling people through the man’s head.
Then the ghost lunges forward, too quick for Lan Wangji to-- irrationally-- move away, and touches him. Hand on chest, hand on shoulder, bearing down weight that is human and physical and impossible. Lan Wangji stops breathing beneath the palm on his ribcage.
“What,” the ghost breathes, looking as shocked as Lan Wangji feels. His face crumples a little, an inward movement of his eyebrows and a twisting of his lips: devastation. “I can touch you.”

Lan Wangji lives with the ability to see— but never interact with— ghosts. Along comes Wei Wuxian, amnesic ghost and impossible new roommate. Obviously, they fall in love.

Summary
On Wednesday, Wei Ying discovers the truth.

“Layer?” Lan Zhan inquires, to buy time. He would like to scoot back, but he’s already pressed against the armrest. Wei Ying takes another step forward, ruthless in his curiousity.
“Yeah, a layer of the Lan Zhan onion. I unpeeled the Pride and Prejudice layer two months ago,” Lan Zhan shudders unthinkingly at the memory of this revelation, “but this is so good.” Another step.
Lan Zhan stands up in a flurry. “No.”
Wei Ying attempts to hide his laughter behind the plastic cups, standing now in a pale sunbeam, ponytail askew from the chill winds outside. Lan Zhan swallows.
“But, but--” he’s giggling now, unable to stop, cheeks flushed with merriment. “Lan Zhan, please--”
“Wei Ying.”
“But it’s-- you---” He heaves with laughter. Lan Zhan needs to take the cups away before he stabs his eyes out with the straws.
Lan Zhan grits his teeth. “Wei Ying,” he pleads.

If he learns he isn’t coming— the Lans are distant friends, but not close enough to guarantee attendance— then Wei Wuxian will not be strong enough to avoid turning home right now. And he can’t afford to miss this party, not if he wants the rest of the holidays with Auntie Yu to be pleasant this year.
Wei Wuxian steels himself for a long day. Tomorrow, today will be forgotten, he lies to himself, like he can trick his brain into ever not ruminating on a bad day. He’s so used to pretending to others that he finds the past inconsequential that he often goes mindlessly through those words, even though they’re false. He holds his head up determinedly and ignores how his veins feel calcified. The hollow nausea in his stomach hasn’t gone away."

“In my defense,” she argues, against an argument that hasn’t been stated but obviously needs to be addressed, “I’m very, very gay. And you’re--” Wei Ying waves to Lan Zhan’s general Lan Zhan’ness. She sighs again, wistfully thinking back to her high school days when she flirted flawlessly with everyone, or heck-- even yesterday! She flirted perfectly sufficiently with the cashier then. “What have I become,” she asks herself.
Wei Ying startles when Lan Zhan clears her throat, touching the backs of her knuckles delicately to her mouth. “I.” She curls and uncurls her other hand unconsciously, moving more in this moment than Wei Ying’s seen during this entire exchange. “What is your name?”
(or, Wei Ying gets catcalled (not by LZ), maybe falls in love at first flirt, and proceeds to... not mess it up?)
