A short huff of a fake sigh. Followed by a well-practiced avoidance of eye contact as Kakashi’s gaze went back to the window. A remark about the weather would no doubt follow—
“Looks like rain, later.”
Yup, bad mission, Obito thought to himself with a carefully suppressed grimace, wondering what the ugly details were, and when, if ever, he would find them out.

Summary
The ghosts of Team Minato haunted him every time he tried to close his eyes, so when Kakashi saw his former team standing in front of him, his first instinct was to attack, to destroy the unrelenting nightmares that consumed him for years. He fought viciously, desperately trying to crawl his way out of the abyss, when he heard that voice again.
Everything became too much for him to bear. For him to hear his sensei’s voice again, to hear the kindness, the caring, the concern and asking him how he had been like he had just seen him yesterday.
Like he hadn’t been dead for three years.
Or: Team Minato meets Anbu Kakashi at the lowest point of his life.
